About Us
We Are One Designs was launched in 2009 when two friends, Mina Yamada and Courtney Tomlin, joined forces to combine Mina’s desire to give back to charities with Courtney’s passion for designing and making casual, artisan jewelry for the active woman.
When Mina’s daughter, Brooke, was just four months old, she was diagnosed with liver failure and received a successful liver transplant at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. During this ordeal, Mina and her family were forever touched by the generous care given by the staff and doctors at Children’s Healthcare. And, because of her personal experience, she was inspired to find a way to give back to charities.
Courtney had been designing and making custom jewelry for more than 12 years. Her designs and materials are inspired by what she enjoys doing the most: running, anything athletic and outdoors. Yet, her long-term vision was that her casual athletic jewelry creations would have a strong impact on charities as well.
Artisan Jewelry for the Active Woman
Mina and Courtney are two active women with a passion for anything active. Like most busy women, they endeavor to balance their days between their business, working out, and caring for their families. They stay fit by enjoying many different sports: cycling, tennis, running, skiing, hiking, and kayaking. Jewelry inspired by these activities is what helped create our artisan styles – effortless athletic jewelry that can transition from running a 10k to giving your child a bath to a casual dinner with your perfect white shirt and jeans.
Each piece created by We Are One Designs is inspired by the idea of wearing athletic inspired jewelry as signature pieces and styles that can easily make the transition from active sports to everyday jewelry. The names of each piece were inspired by the sport or activity they both enjoy, such as the “marathon” bracelet or the “om” necklace.
Each one of their designs can be identified by their signature leaf charm. Not only does the simple and timeless beauty of the leaf elegantly represent their styles but it is also said that the leaf signifies happiness. Happiness to them is making a difference to charities that work so hard to make a difference in other people's lives.
