Changing Lives Through Fundraising

This is the story of two friends who joined forces by combining one woman’s desire to develop a turnkey fundraising solution while creating unity and support for charities with another’s love for designing and making jewelry.  Although Mina Yamada and Courtney Tomlin started on different paths, their dreams came together when they co-founded one fundraising idea – We Are One Designs.

 

When Mina’s daughter, Brooke, was just four month’s old, she was diagnosed with liver failure. After spending five weeks in ICU, Brooke received a successful liver transplant. This began the long journey to recovery and adjusting to a new life with a transplant.

 

During this ordeal, Mina met many transplant parents who not only struggled with their child’s health and mounting medical expenses, but also with friends of the transplant families who wanted a meaningful way to show support other than with prayers and food. It was while speaking with Courtney one day that the idea for their unique fundraising concept was born.

 

Courtney had been designing and making custom jewelry for more than ten years before she decided to launch her own company, Toshi Designs. Her long-term goal was that her jewelry creations would have a strong impact on charities.
